What The Research Shows

Your biology has more levers than most people know exist.

Growth hormone signalling, cellular repair, mitochondrial output, collagen synthesis, hair follicle cycling: these systems are mapped, documented, and targetable. The research exists. Most people never access it. The difference between those who do and those who don't is not biology — it's information.

The common assumption

Most people attribute changes in energy, recovery, body composition, and skin to ageing and lifestyle. That explanation is not wrong — but it is incomplete. Underneath every one of those changes is a specific biological mechanism. Named. Published. Studied. The assumption that nothing can be done often comes from not knowing the mechanism exists.

What a decade of peptide research shows

Growth hormone signalling, cellular repair pathways, mitochondrial biogenesis, dermal collagen synthesis — these are not guesses. They are mapped mechanisms with peer-reviewed research dating back decades. Research peptides exist precisely because these pathways are targetable. The question is not whether the science exists. The question is whether you have read it.

Growth hormone drops ~14% per decade after 30. That is why body composition shifts even when diet and training stay constant. The hormonal environment underneath is changing.

Cellular repair efficiency falls up to 50% between your 30s and 60s. The reason injuries that healed in two weeks at 25 take six weeks at 42. Same body. Different repair rate.

Mitochondrial function declines ~10% per decade from age 25. Your energy ceiling does not crash. It drops quietly. Most people adapt to less without realising they have settled.

Collagen levels decline by up to 30% in the first five years after menopause, then approximately 1% per year. The structural changes affect skin thickness, wound healing, and joint health — all pathways with active published research.

Approximately 50% of women experience measurable hair thinning by age 50. The underlying mechanisms — DHT sensitivity, follicle micronutrient delivery, and growth cycle disruption — are well-documented research targets.

Testosterone levels in men can decline by up to 40% between ages 30 and 60. In women, testosterone and DHEA both decrease from the late 20s, with documented effects on energy, drive, and responsiveness.

These are not estimates

The figures above come from peer-reviewed research published in major scientific journals. This is documented biology, not supplement marketing. The decline is real regardless of whether you research it.

The systems are understood

Growth hormone signalling, cellular repair, mitochondrial biogenesis: these are not mysteries. They are mapped mechanisms with a substantial body of published research. Whether you engage with that research is a choice.

The mechanisms are mapped. The compounds are available. What you do with that information is yours to decide.

Statistical references from published peer-reviewed research. No claims regarding treatment, cure, or prevention of any condition.

Research Peptides - The Science

What are research peptides actually doing?

What they are

Peptides are short-chain polymers of amino acids - typically 2 to 50 residues in length. Unlike proteins, which are structural, peptides primarily function as signalling molecules: they bind to specific receptors, trigger intracellular cascades, and modulate biological processes. The sequences Avolvia supplies occur naturally in the human body and in other organisms. They are not novel synthetic compounds. They are isolated, sequenced, and reproduced.

How they are made

Compounds are produced using solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) - the same method used by pharmaceutical research labs globally. This allows precise construction of the target sequence with controlled purity. The result is a defined molecule with a known structure, not a biological extract with variable composition. Pharmaceutical-grade means the synthesis meets standards for residual solvent levels, endotoxin load, and enantiomeric purity.

Why purity matters for research

Research validity depends entirely on knowing what you are working with. A compound at 95% purity has an undefined 5% impurity profile - that 5% can confound results, trigger unintended biological responses, and make data unreliable. Avolvia targets pharmaceutical-grade purity with third-party verification on each batch. The Certificate of Analysis is not internal documentation. It is independently issued and specifies identity, purity percentage, and impurity limits.

NOAA

Throughout this site, "NOAA" refers to Naturally Occurring Amino Acid compounds - peptide sequences with endogenous origins, synthesised to pharmaceutical-grade purity. For research and educational purposes only. Not intended for human consumption.

The Origin

Built by someone who ran the peptide protocol first.

Five years building health brands. A pivot. A personal peptide protocol. Twelve months of bloodwork and data. Avolvia is what came out the other side - a founder who used the research peptides before making them available to anyone else.

2018–2022

Built Something That Worked

Spent five years building a health brand in a grey, misunderstood category from scratch. No playbook. Manufacturing partnerships, retail distribution, an online community of over 10,000 people, and by 2022 a brand ranked number one in its category in South Africa. Not through advertising. Through results and word of mouth from people whose quality of life had genuinely improved. The most important thing that period taught: what it actually means when something works quietly in the background, rather than producing something you can feel in twenty minutes. That lesson carried into everything that came next.

2023

The Protocol

The market shifted. Pivoted. It took time to find the next direction, and during that period the focus went inward. Full bloodwork: hormone panel, inflammatory markers, metabolic panel. Sleep architecture tracked through wearables. Structured training reintroduced progressively. Then a targeted compound protocol layered on top, using the same category of research peptides Avolvia now supplies. The protocol ran for twelve months. Energy and output restored. The insight was not just that the compounds worked. It was that pharmaceutical-grade inputs, combined with an actual understanding of what is happening biologically, produce consistent and measurable results. That became the entire foundation of Avolvia.

2024

Alpha CBD to Avolvia

Built for the researcher who cares about what is measurably happening in their biology, not what they can feel in the moment. Research peptides interact directly with the systems that drive recovery, longevity, and performance: growth hormone signalling, cellular repair pathways, mitochondrial function. The South African market had suppliers. It did not have a supplier who had run the protocol, understood the biology, and built the quality standard around that experience. Every decision in how Avolvia operates, from independent third-party CoAs and pharmaceutical-grade synthesis to cold-chain delivery and full compound documentation, comes from having used the products before making them available to anyone else. That is not a marketing position. It is the reason Avolvia exists.

"I pivoted. Took a while. Used the time to run the protocol on myself - bloodwork, training, the compounds we now supply. Systems back online. Avolvia is built on that. Not theory. Not a pitch. A founder who did the work before asking anyone else to trust it."

Amino acids are the fundamental building blocks of proteins, hormones, and signalling molecules in the human body. When specific sequences of amino acids fold together, they form signalling compounds - molecules that occur naturally in living organisms and direct cellular behaviour. "Naturally occurring amino acid compounds" (NOAA) refers to these isolated peptide sequences that have been identified, studied, and synthesised to pharmaceutical-grade purity for research purposes.

Yes. The compounds Avolvia supplies are unscheduled under South African law. They have not been reviewed by SAHPRA for registration as medicines, which means they are not classified as Schedule 1–8 substances under the Medicines and Related Substances Act. They exist in a legal category alongside research chemicals and laboratory supplies. We supply them strictly for research, educational, and laboratory use only. Avolvia maintains a full Legality of Peptides page with detailed analysis of the SA regulatory framework - see the top navigation.

Avolvia serves biohackers, longevity researchers, sports scientists, and independent researchers who study human biology. Our customers are educated, self-directed individuals who conduct their own due diligence, review primary research, and make informed decisions about the compounds they study. We are not for casual supplement shoppers. The gate is real.

"Research, laboratory, and educational use only" is the legal framing that governs the supply of unscheduled compounds. Avolvia is not a pharmacy. We cannot and do not provide medical advice, dosing guidance, or therapeutic claims. Compounds are supplied for the purposes of study, experimentation, and personal research. What researchers do with their own biology, under their own informed consent, is their own business.

A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is a third-party laboratory document that verifies the identity, purity, and concentration of a compound. Most compounds supplied by Avolvia include a CoA - this is the single most important quality marker for research compounds, proving what you have received is what it says it is at the stated purity. We use accredited third-party labs. The CoA is not an internal document. Where a CoA is available for your compound, it will be included with your order or accessible on request.

Pharmaceutical-grade synthesis means the compound is produced to a purity standard (typically 99%+) used in clinical and research settings. It specifies acceptable levels of residual solvents, endotoxins, and synthesis byproducts. Many research compound suppliers sell "research-grade" material at 95–97% purity with undefined impurity profiles. Avolvia does not. Pharmaceutical-grade is the only acceptable standard for serious research.

Most naturally occurring amino acid compounds are temperature-sensitive. Elevated temperatures cause degradation, breaking down the molecular structure and reducing both purity and effectiveness for research purposes. Cold-chain delivery means your order is packed with temperature control from our storage facility to your door. The compound you receive is in the same condition it was when packed for dispatch.

You can purchase legally. However, be aware: most naturally occurring amino acid compounds supplied by Avolvia are listed on the WADA Prohibited List. If you compete in any sport governed by WADA or any affiliated national anti-doping authority, you bear full responsibility for what is in your system. Avolvia accepts no liability for anti-doping violations. This is clearly disclosed at the age gate.

When you confirm the research-use declaration on this page, a verification timestamp is recorded in our system. This creates a compliant audit trail confirming that the purchaser has acknowledged the terms of supply, confirmed their age, and accepted that compounds are for research use only. The record is non-transferable and logged for compliance purposes.

Avolvia was founded by Bruce T. Steyn, who previously built Alpha CBD - one of South Africa's early cannabidiol brands. When Alpha CBD wound down in 2023, Bruce used the recovery period to systematically research and apply the same category of compounds now available through Avolvia. The brand is different. The commitment to quality, transparency, and serving a research-literate audience is the same.
